Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer- New Developments

Ideally, reconstruction or enlargement of the breast should be accomplished with tissue that resembles your own breast tissue.Recent developments in technology have made breast augmentation or reconstruction with fat transfer an excellent option for patients who don’t want silicone implants. It is also very useful for enhancing breasts already augmented with silicone implants or for reconstructive purposes. With fat transfer you now could have breast enlargement with your own tissue that is the most natural method available today. The Body Jet liposuction machine enables the safe extraction of large quantities of fat for breast enlargement.

The procedure consists of Body jet Liposuction of areas such as the abdomen or thighs with the havesting cannister attached to the machine.This can be performed under local anesthesia or with intravenous sedation. The Body jet uses water pressure to dislodge the fat and this fat is then gently extracted, filtered and the water separated by the cannister collection device. The fat retains most of its viability with this procedure. After the appropiate amount of fat is extracted by this method ( usually 250 to 300 cc per each breast), the fat is transferred from the cannister without exposing it to the air and placed in 10-20cc syringes for injection.

The fat is carefully layered by starting in the pectoralis muscle and fascia until the desired volume is achieved.A 2.0-2.5 mm. cannula is used for this purpose Fat can be used to enhance the cleavage areas, improve symmetry, change the shape of narrow based breasts and also to help nipple projection. In most cases I avoid injecting fat directly into the breast tissue.
